Dubbed Project Neon, a $1 billion construction project that will widen 3.7 miles of Interstate 15 in Las Vegas is set to be the costliest public infrastructure project in Nevada's history. The project is expected to generate 4,000 direct and indirect jobs through its completion scheduled for summer 2019.

Kiewit Infrastructure West Co. will be the projects general contractor with a $559.4 million design-build contract with the state, including up to $20 million in early completion incentives and hefty potential late penalties. Officials believe the design build approach should save $80 million on the project.

The Nevada Department of Transportation is estimated the completed project should reduce traffic delays by 28%.
