Pennsylvania Rental Company Expands Into Construction from Outdoor Recreation Origins

When George Blobe’s father started the company, it offered campers, tents, bikes and basically anything people would need for a camping trip. A year or two later, it began offering construction equipment rentals, and that eventually became the focus.

Five years ago, O.R.E. Rentals expanded to Northampton County in Pennsylvania by opening a location in Lower Nazareth Township.

Last year, the company, which leases equipment to the construction industry, opened another location in Lehigh County.

Now, O.R.E. Rentals, which is based in Richland Township, is expanding yet again.

By next year, it plans to move its Lower Nazareth operations to a bigger facility, also in the township. While construction on its new Northampton County home has not yet begun, it is expected to be completed next year.

Not bad for a company that began by renting and selling only camping equipment.

That was in 1972, when the acronym stood for Outdoor Recreational Equipment; today, the letters represent Outstanding Rental Experience.

“We rent equipment to all contractors … industrial, site contractors, municipalities, lift contractors,” said George Blobe, who co-owns the business with his brother, Ron.

When George Blobe’s father started the company, it offered campers, tents, bikes and basically anything people would need for a camping trip. A year or two later, it began offering construction equipment rentals, and that eventually became the company’s sole focus.
