The Lane Construction Corporation has won contracts in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the United States (Pennsylvania), while becoming the apparent low bidder for another one in the U.S. (Florida).

The combined value of the three contracts is $370 million. Lane’s contract in the UAE is related to the Al Maktoum International Airport Expansion Project in Dubai. Working alongside the National Contracting Transportation Corp of Sharjah, UAE, Lane will be responsible for 60% of the $125 million project for a value of $75 million. The project entails new terminal facilities, concourses, runways, roads and tunnels. In preparation for the expansion, Lane will work on temporary fences and gates, utilities and site offices, as well as site security. It is to start in January 2017 and finish in 31 months. Once completed, the expanded airport is expected to accommodate more than 220 million passengers a year, making it the world’s biggest in terms of size and passenger capacity by 2050.

In Washington County, PA, Lane won a contract to rebuild and widen parts of Interstate 70 after submitting an offer for $118 million. It includes widening from two to three lanes in each direction a western section of the Interstate and rebuilding a four-lane stretch along the eastern section. Construction is to start in the spring of 2017 and is scheduled to end in 2020.

In Orange County, FL, Lane is the apparent low bidder for a project to widen a seven-mile segment of the Florida Turnpike after submitting an offer of $177 million. The project would widen the turnpike from four to eight travel lanes - including two express lanes in both directions - from the Osceola County Line to the Beachline Expressway/SR528. It would also entail three ramps at the Turnpike/SR 417 system-to-system interchange, as well as pavement milling and resurfacing, roadside improvements, safety guardrail, signing, and drainage improvements. Work is expected to begin in early 2017 and be completed in 2020.
