DODGE CENTER, MN - McNeilus Companies, Inc., an Oshkosh Corporation company, is helping to increase the productivity and profitability of Kenvil, New Jersey's County Concrete Corporation, by supplying 20 McNeilus Revolution composite drum-equipped Oshkosh S-Series Front Discharge Mixers.
Adding the four-axle Oshkosh S-Series and the McNeilus Revolution drum, provides Kenvil with a clear payload advantage over anyone running a conventional steel mixer. "I can now run with 10 yards legal in Pennsylvania, where before I could only run legal with 8 yards on board," said John Crimi, president of County Concrete. "This truck is as good as any sales tool you could have. When you come right down to it, payload is what we get paid on. With the Revolution, we can carry more to every jobsite than with a steel-drum mixer." County Concrete also sees similar payload advantages in their New York and New Jersey locations.
Since August of last year, County Concrete has been switching its fleet to the Oshkosh S-Series Front Discharge Mixers to help win over customers who have been accustomed to the rear-discharge mixers that are prevalent in that part of New Jersey.
"The Oshkosh front discharge mixers are very popular among the contractors here and the reception has been great," said Crimi. "They pull right up to the job site and place the concrete where it's needed without having to put a man at the end of the chute or backing too close to the hole. That means the contractor has an extra man to handle the finish work - which means the job gets done faster. It's also getting done safer."
County Concrete is planning on having 50 Revolution-equipped S-Series mixers in his fleet within two years. "We're convinced this is the only way we should be delivering concrete," said Crimi.
