Elkin Hi-Tech celebrates its twenty-fifth anniversary in 2008. Elkin Hi-Tech was founded in 1983 by Luther Elkin in Indiana, Pennsylvania. Originally a supplier of concrete to local contractors, Luther and his son Rick, identified the need for improved concrete mixing technology. There was a need for easy-to-use, mobile concrete mixers that could make concrete at the job site in small or large volumes. The features Luther envisioned for advancing the industry could not be found on existing concrete mixers. The solution was simple. He would create a volumetric concrete mixer that would address his needs and those of his customers. Elkin Hi-Tech was born.
Today's Elkin Hi-Tech volumetric mixers include features such as the flexible auger trough which maximizes the production efficiency of the mixer and extends the life of the auger. The vibratory system inside the unique cement metering wheel reduces cement buildup and enhances uniformity of the concrete mix, resulting in a consistent quality of the concrete. The Elkin Hi-Tech volumetric mixer makes fresh concrete, to the customer's specification, on-site, when the customer wants it and in the exact amount the customer wants, with no waste of time or materials. In the last 25 years, the product line has grown to include truck-mounted, trailer-mounted and stationary volumetric mixers that can prepare up to10 yards of concrete at the customer's location. Additionally, Elkin Hi-Tech produces cement silos to enable the concrete contractor to lower his cement cost by buying in bulk. High production batch plants are also available and can be custom designed to meet customer specifications.
