General contractor Keepsake Construction, Inc. of Orland Park, Illinois, dramatically cut time and costs when its two-man work crew used the new C4 gas-fired Trak-It® tool from Powers Fasteners, Inc., to install 4,000 square feet of wood flooring over concrete slab at a restaurant recently built in Naperville, Illinois.
"It would have taken us at least twice the time if we had done the job manually, and time is money," said Keepsake superintendent Stan Schneider. "With the Powers gas-fired tool, we did not have to drill holes before installing concrete screw anchors as we normally would have done. We simply fastened the ¾" thick plywood sub-flooring to the concrete by shooting the gun -- using 1½" step shank pins. We finished the installation in only two days," he added.
The distributor was Bulldog Tools and Fasteners in Villa Park, Illinois.
Because it uses a refined Trak-It gas cartridge and chamber that provides a slightly more powerful charge for firing 2½" pins, the C4 tool is one of the industry's first gas-fired tool with sufficient power to fasten 2x4's into concrete.
The new tool also has the same reliability, speed, convenience and other features and benefits of the Trak-It gas-firing system. It is light and balanced, and features Powers' exclusive easy-to-remove latched opening on the nose piece that enables contractors to remove misfires without needing to disassemble the handle.
The C4 tool has a 42-pin magazine capacity to reduce the amount of time spent loading on the job and also uses a pezio to fire the tool without creating a spark, which preserves the life of its two fast-charging nickel hydride cordless batteries.
