Life-Cycle Cost Analysis for Pavements

American Concrete Pavement Association

Course Content:
Pavement selection is often based on a comprehensive life cycle cost analysis (LCCA) comparison between pavement types. The focus of this webinar is to provide a basic overview of the LCCA process and to highlight the benefits as well as challenges with performing a sound LCCA.

The five-step process of a LCCA will be discussed, with some emphasis on the most important factors, including appropriate discount rates, consideration of user costs, equivalent alternatives, analysis periods, and remaining service life.

Life cycle costs can also be used to analyze the economic benefits of various pavement design features including widened lanes, tied concrete shoulders, stabilized bases, dowel bars. Optimization of concrete pavements and alternate designs will be discussed in subsequent webinars in this series.

Audience:
Contractors, Agency Personnel, Consultants, and anyone requiring a basic knowledge of life cycle cost analyses for concrete pavements.

Date & Time:
The webinar is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. (Central) on Friday, April 4, 2008. The webinar will last approximately 60 minutes, although questions & answers typically add about 10 to 15 minutes to the presentation time.
