SILVER SPRING, MD - The National Ready Mixed Concrete Association has released the latest in its growing series of safety-related learning tools for the ready mix industry, Safety Around Concrete Pumps. This CD-based PowerPoint presentation, which comes with instructor notes, a quiz and a training documentation form to help track personnel training, is the 13th publication offering in NRMCA's industry safety series.

This most recent addition to NRMCA's growing library of tools was immediately preceded by 3 Points of Contact, another CD-based presentation that discusses the three points of the mixer driver's body (one foot and two hands or two hands and one foot) that must be in contact with the vehicle at all times.

"We made these training programs specific to the ready mixed concrete industry for a quicker transfer of knowledge to the workforce," said Steve Jones, director of safety and human resources at NRMCA member company Chandler Concrete Company and NRMCA Safety Task Group chairman. "The very nature of a concrete pump job means the concrete is needed where the mixer truck cannot safely deliver."

"NRMCA will continue to proactively address safety issues in the ready mixed concrete industry," added Gary Mullings, NRMCA's senior vice president of operations and compliance. "It is very important to educate mixer truck drivers on the electrical hazards that exist with overhead power lines of concrete pump jobs along with the high delivery pressures used by concrete pumps."
