The governments of the United States and the United Arab Emirates are interested in the venture to build the country's longest bridge project spanning the sea separating Java and Sumatra.
Director General of Highway Construction and Maintenance Hermanto Dardak said the two countries see good prospects in the venture, which is estimated to cost Rp140 trillion (U.S. $15.2 billion).
The U.S. embassy and Abu Dhabi have asked the government to give details about the long standing plan, Hermanto told the newspaper Investor Daily.
Earlier Public Works Minister Djko Kirmanto said the government had no fund to build the 29 kilometer bridge that will also include railway double track, therefore, it invited the private sector to finance the project.
