HMA Energy and Recycling Symposium Scheduled for October 22-23 in Austin


National Asphalt Pavement Association

Lanham, Md. -The National Asphalt Pavement Association announced that an HMA Energy and Recycling Symposium will take place October 22-23, 2007 at the Radisson Hotel & Suites Austin - Town Lake in Austin, Texas. This one and a half day workshop will focus on hot-mix asphalt (HMA) recycling and on energy issues affecting the production and price of HMA. The event is to be co-sponsored by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA).

The Symposium will offer a variety of engaging sessions led by dynamic speakers who represent the latest thinking in the contracting community, industry, academia and public agencies. Topics to be covered include energy savings and asphalt recycling for the future; asphalt supply; aggregate issues; high-performance mixes; DOT and FHWA perspectives on recycling; energy savings through plant efficiency; reducing transportation costs and the cost of drying aggregates; mix design for HMA recycling; warm-mix asphalt and recycling, and much more.

Participation in this Symposium could be the key to savings of hundreds of thousands of dollars for our industry. HMA producers and contractors, material suppliers, DOT and public works officials, agency material specification writers, academics, and consulting engineers are encouraged to attend.

Supporting organizations are Arkansas Asphalt Pavement Association, Kansas Asphalt Pavement Association, Missouri Asphalt Pavement Association, Oklahoma Asphalt Pavement Association, and Texas Asphalt Pavement Association.

Sessions will begin at 1:00 pm on Monday, October 22, and conclude at 3:00 pm on Tuesday, October 23.
