The standard sets forth the provisions for power sweeping companies to operate their businesses, in a more efficient, organized and safer work process, that results in greater safety for workers and the public in general.

NAPSA became an accredited standard developer in 2018 through the process governed by the American National Standards Institute. NAPSA underwent an extensive audit on this process last year. The audit reviewed ANSI Essential Requirements for developers and ensured that NAPSA was following a course of activities which results in a balanced and fair document for the industry.

After successful completion of the audit, NAPSA started the review and revision of the existing standard in January 2023. As of this writing, version 2.0 has entered into the phase of the process whereby 12 canvassees will read and respond to the draft. Evidence of consensus in accordance with the ANSI requirement is documented. The canvassing body includes four contractor participants, four property management/owners and four general interest participants which include manufacturers and other organizations with an interest in power sweeping. NAPSA will consider all comments following the public review. Comments about the standard are sent in writing to NAPSA.

The public review period began on June 26, 2023, and will close on August 10, 2023, at 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time.

To review the standard and to comment, the public may order the standard through NAPSA by contacting NAPSA at (888) 757-0130 or [email protected]. The single copy price is $399.00 for the draft.
