DETROIT – GMC Sierra 2500HD took top honors in the heavy duty ¾-ton pickup category of Vincentric's seventh annual "Best Value in America" awards announced today, beating such models as Ford Super Duty F-250 and Dodge Ram 2500. GMC also earned Vincentric's top truck brand honor.

Vincentric, a privately held automotive data compilation and analysis firm, headquartered in Bingham Farms, Mich., selects winners based on calculations of total cost of ownership relative to price within industry segments.

"Today's truck buyers demand professional grade vehicles that deliver the best value for their money, and these awards reflect GMC's commitment to meeting and exceeding those expectations," said John Schwegman, U.S. vice president, GMC Marketing. "The Sierra lineup has set the benchmark for get-it-done capability while providing value-added features such as a smart exhaust brake feature on diesels and luxurious Denali trim."

In addition to winning this year's "Best Value in America" award, Sierra 2500HD previously held the honor in 2008, and earned IntelliChoice's "Best Overall Truck Value" last year. IntelliChoice also rates vehicles on total cost of ownership.

"In both 2WD and 4WD configurations, Sierra 2500HD's maintenance and repair costs were lower than the competition and key factors in its win," said David Wurster, president of Vincentric. "Likewise, GMC Trucks won the overall brand award, because the cost of ownership was lower than expected in all four pickup segments and in both 2WD and 4WD configurations."

Sierra 2500HD buyers have helped GMC become one of the fastest-growing mainstream automotive brands in America. GMC's pickup retail sales grew in February by 87 percent compared to the same month in 2010 and its total sales grew 86 percent during the same period. The 2500HD 4WD crew cab is the best-selling heavy-duty model in the Sierra lineup.
