National Precast Concrete Association Election and Award Presentation

The NPCA elects a new chairman and board of directors and awards prestigious industry award.

Dan Houk, president and CEO of Wilbert Precast Inc., has been elected NPCA's 46th chairman of the Board. Houk took the gavel to begin his 12-month term Oct. 24, at the 45thh Annual Convention in Vancouver, B.C.

A lifelong precast producer and an NPCA member since 1977, Houk said that he is committed to building awareness among construction industry specifiers of the many services available through the association, including online educational opportunities and new tools for engineers, architects and regulators.

"We have a growing suite of online tools that can assist designers, whether they are searching for technical support or seeking LEED points with precast concrete," Houk said. "Our goal is to continue to create awareness of all these resources among the design community."

Also elected to the board for 3-years terms were Howard Wingert, President, Concrete Sealants, Inc.; Michael Tidwell, President, Bartow Precast; Mike Worden, President, Concrete Systems, Inc; and Stephanie Loud, President, Mountain West Precast.

Dan Barbour Receives Top Industry Award
Dan Barbour, vice president at Barbour Concrete Co., received the precast concrete industry's most prestigious award at the National Precast Concrete Association (NPCA) 45th Annual Convention. Barbour became the third member of his family to earn the Robert E. Yoakum Award for service to NPCA and the precast concrete industry.

Barbour's contributions to the Association have been many, including forming the NPCA Young Leaders Group to help the next generation of precasters, chairing the Governance Task Force that completely updated the association's governance and helping to launch the first Precast Show.
