Concrete Drew Crowds at StonExpo/Marmomacc Americas 2009

The fifth Concrete Countertop Industry Conference held in conjunction with StonExpo/Marmomacc Americas.

RALEIGH, NC - The fifth Concrete Countertop Industry Conference (CCIC) was held October 21-24, 2009 in conjunction with StonExpo/Marmomacc Americas, the #1 North American stone industry event, at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, NV.

Concrete-related exhibitors at the show included Surface 519, provider of high performance concrete countertop sealers, Dustless Technologies, the world's leading manufacturer of dust collection systems for power tools and Concrete Artisan Cooperative, a collaboration between Blue Concrete and Concrete Countertop Specialties to bring the most proven and ground-breaking products to the concrete countertop fabricator and specialty concrete artisan.

Bob Chatterton of Surface 519 noted, "I was very impressed with the amount of interest that marble and granite fabricators showed in concrete. Everyone that stopped by would pick up a sample and say, that's concrete?"

Darren Diess of Dustless Technologies reported, "I felt the quality of the attendees this year was excellent. They appeared to be truly interested and open to new innovative ways to do business. In general, they were very receptive to explore new methods of work habits."

Shawn Hays of BlueConcrete provided the following feedback: "We were very pleased with our decision to exhibit at StoneExpo in Las Vegas. Consistently, we had granite and stone fabricators tell us that their customers were interested in concrete. Visitors to the booth were surprised to see the quality, detail, and endless possibilities of high performance concrete. We are looking forward to exhibiting again next year."

The CCIC also included live demonstrations on the show floor by Jeffrey Girard, P.E., President and instructor for The Concrete Countertop Institute. Girard's demonstrations of forming, concrete mixing, glass fiber reinforced concrete, diamond polishing and sealing drew crowds of interested onlookers. In addition, six seminars about concrete were among the most popular seminars at the show.

Girard stated, "I was very pleased with the level of interest in concrete from stone countertop fabricators at the show. In this economy, fabricators are looking for the latest, in-demand products, and concrete is one of those. Attendees were very open to exploring how concrete can differentiate their businesses."
