RALEIGH, N.C. - Looking to the future, uncertainty looms large. Strategies trimmed to a pre-recession market don't fit the current outlook. But which of many possible futures should be planned for? How can today's uncertainty be leveraged into winning actions?
FMI Corporation and AMI have engaged more than 50 thought leaders from architecture, engineering and construction backgrounds to look to the year 2020 and discuss what the future may hold. The results of this research will be presented on October 29 in Chicago, Ill., at the Future of the AEC Industry Workshop.
FMI and AMI have created four evocative scenarios, extrapolated from the dynamics seen at play in the world today. The alternative futures detail different directions the A/E/C industry could move in as it recovers from recent, game-shifting events. These scenarios are designed to present A/E/C executives with opportunities to initiate strategic conversations, ask tough questions about their firm's future and prepare to move past the recession into a fresh new decade.
Leaders from such firms as CH2M Hill, Zimmer Gunsul Frasca Architects and Brown & Caldwell, as well as key representatives from ACEC and the AIA informed the core of this study. Watts Wacker will be the keynote speaker for this event.
