NX Infrastructure Announces Executive Management Team

NX Infrastructure (NXI), the world's leading manufacturer of corrosion-resistant, stainless-clad rebar and dowels for reinforcing concrete in civil engineering projects, has announced its North American Executive Management Team. Currently based in Wales, United Kingdom, the company has moved its corporate headquarters to Jacksonville, Florida and will announce its major manufacturing center location later this year, production will begin in 2010.

The company first began offering its innovative stainless-steel clad rebar and dowels in the 1990s as "Stellax," an alternative to epoxy-coated, galvanized and solid stainless-steel rebar. The protected patents were of interest to a group of investors led by Arkbe Capital Ltd., London, who bought the patents in 2006 and renamed the company NX Infrastructure.

The NXI management team includes:

  • Pat Harlow, president and chairman - currently the chairman of Contech Construction Products Inc., where for the previous eight years he was also the President and CEO. Contech Construction Products Inc. is a $1 billion infrastructure solutions company, serving the civil engineering and heavy highway construction markets. Since joining Contech in 1999, he has overseen nine consecutive years of sales and earnings growth. During this time, sales more than tripled while EBITDA increased five times. Previously, Harlow spent 20 years at Ingersoll Rand, as General Manager of a global $500 million drilling equipment business with manufacturing plants in the U.S., Germany, France, India and China. Harlow will serve as a part time President and Chairman of NXI, focusing on developing and implementing the company's North American sales and marketing strategy.
  • John Orth, Ph.D., Chief Executive Officer - a highly experienced steel industry leader with 15 years of specialist knowledge, Orth has been working in the sector after receiving his Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Texas (Austin). He was previously employed by Trinity Industries as Vice President of Operations and Cast Products and Commercial Metals Company as Manager of Technical Services. Orth was a Director of Foundry Technology at one of the most innovative consultancies in the U.S., where he led the company's efforts to design, build and start-up a 70,000-ton foundry. In his career, he has had leadership responsibility for all operational and manufacturing areas of very large-scale steel foundries serving the railroad and mining industries. Throughout his strong history of leadership, Orth has increased top and bottom line numbers by driving operational efficiencies and leading dramatic sales growth.
  • John Stang, Executive Vice President of Global Sales and Marketing - formerly the Vice President of Global Sales and Services for Kennametal Inc. Metalworking Solutions and Services Group (MSSG), Stang was responsible for Kennametal's $1.9 billion Global Sales and Services business. Kennametal Inc. is a leading global supplier of tooling and engineered components consumed in production processes. During 2008, in addition to his role as VP Global Sales and Services, Stang has served in the role of President MSSG responsible for operations worldwide, comprising more than half of the company's overall sales revenues. Prior to joining Kennametal in 2002, he was the Vice President Sales, North America Road Development Group for Ingersoll Rand Company. Stang spent 26 years with Ingersoll Rand in various sales and marketing leadership roles in their Construction and Mining Group. He focused on sales expansion, channel development (both direct and indirect), acquisition integration and product development. Stang has lived and worked on two continents and has extensive experience in building effective sales organizations with global processes and local execution.
  • Seth Fischer, Executive Vice President of Sales, North America - based in the U.S., Fischer has over 12 years of experience in the steel industry. Previously, he worked for two years as General Sales Manager at AM Castle, a distributor of carbon, alloy and stainless steel with 1,800 employees and $1.5 billion in revenues. Prior to that, Fischer honed his sales skills with the global steel company Outokumpu which has 19,000 employees and $8 billion in revenues, where he ran their entire Eastern U.S. region. He has demonstrated success in revenue growth, is tenacity in building new business and securing customer loyalty and building strong internal and external relationships.
  • Rodney G. Powers, Technical Consultant - recently retired from the Florida DOT after 38 years of service, serving as the technical director of the Concrete Durability and Corrosion Research Laboratories for the past 25 years. In this capacity, Powers conducted extensive State and Federal funded research in the fields of concrete durability, corrosion inhibiting concrete admixtures, corrosion resistant alloys for reinforcing steel in concrete and corrosion prevention in the design and maintenance of bridges and other structures. Under his direction, the Florida DOT has emerged as an internationally recognized leader in the field of corrosion prevention and durable construction materials. His accomplishments include the elimination of Florida's usage of ECR followed by the introduction of corrosion mitigating measures such as high performance concrete and corrosion-resistant steels. He has published numerous papers on the topics of corrosion prevention and cathodic protection of steel-reinforced concrete structures. Additionally his work has led to the issuance of four U.S. patents for corrosion prevention technologies and testing devices.
