Careers in Construction Week Starts October 29, 2012

Careers in Construction Week is designed to increase public awareness and encourage students to pursue careers in construction

The Build Your Future Campaign announced that the eighth annual Careers in Construction Week will take place October 29 through November 2, 2012.

Careers in Construction Week is an integral part of the Build Your Future (BYF) national education and recruitment campaign. The week is designed to increase public awareness of the hard work and contributions of our nation's craft professionals and encourage students to pursue careers in construction.

Local schools, contractors and organizations are encouraged to partner locally to host construction career events and programs during this week. These events allow for an open dialogue between students and contractors.

Governors are encouraged to proclaim the week of October 29 through November 2, 2012 as Careers in Construction Week in their states. If you are interested in sending a proclamation request to your state official, visit byf.org/resources to download a sample proclamation.

Register your event to receive publicity by having your event profiled on the BYF website. For more information about Careers in Construction Week or BYF, visit byf.org. Check out BYF on Facebook at facebook.com/BYFcampaign and follow @BYFcampaign on Twitter.

The Build Your Future Campaign (BYF) is a collaborative grassroots approach to construction workforce forecasting and development that will include recruitment, training, placement, retention and image enhancement strategies. The ultimate goal of the campaign is to lead new potential construction industry candidates as well as incumbent workers to opportunities for job placement, advanced education and training and ultimately long-term rewarding careers in the construction industry. BYF is led by NCCER and the Construction Workforce Development Center, and is supported by ABC, AGC and CURT.
