NAPA Environmental, Health & Safety Conference to be Held Prior to World of Asphalt 2013

'Beyond Compliance' fosters world-class safety culture at asphalt plant and paving sites

World of Asphalt and AGG1 2013 attendees can take advantage of a first-ever industry conference focused on environmental, health and safety issues specific to asphalt plant and paving sites.

Co-located with the shows is a new National Asphalt Pavement Association (NAPA) conference, “Beyond Compliance: Achieving EH&S Excellence,” to be held March 18-19, 2013 just prior to World of Asphalt and AGG1. NAPA is a co-owner of World of Asphalt.

The 2013 World of Asphalt Show & Conference and AGG1 Aggregates Academy & Expo will be held March 19-21, 2013 at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio, Texas.
NAPA conference organizers note that while the program is designed for environmental and health and safety managers at asphalt companies, the sessions will also be beneficial for anyone involved in asphalt production and construction, including construction managers, paving superintendents, safety superintendents and inspectors.

"This is the first-ever conference to focus exclusively on issues related to environment, health, and safety at asphalt plants and paving sites," stated NAPA Vice President for Environmental Affairs Howard Marks. "Beyond Compliance will provide practical, timely, and relevant information on managing current hazards and risks in the asphalt pavement industry."
The conference includes an environmental track and a health and safety track, both of which will feature world-class presenters and practitioners focused on issues specific to the asphalt production and construction industry.

The health and safety track will cover hazard communication, work-zone safety practices, respiratory protection and physical hazards, including arc flash protection requirements. The environmental track will cover stormwater control, waste disposal, dust control and new reciprocating internal combustion engine (RICE) regulations, among other issues.

“Beyond Compliance will help companies develop a world-class health and safety culture for their facilities and thereby reduce the risk of injuries at or environmental damage from a facility," Marks stated.
