Thermomass, a leading manufacturer of concrete building insulation systems, is the proud recipient of the 2013 Tilt-Up Concrete Association’s (TCA) Robert Aiken Memorial Award for Innovation. The award, which honors the achievements of one of the founding fathers of site-cast tilt-up construction, was presented to Thermomass for advancing the structurally composite sandwich wall panel industry with its Insulation System SC product line.

Thermomass System SC is a patented insulation system designed to create a structurally composite concrete sandwich wall panel. The system is unique in that it forces the two wythes, or layers, of concrete to act together structurally, creating a thinner panel, while optimizing insulation coverage and composite action. This pairing provides designers and owners the highest level of insulation value in a composite wall panel.

Receiving the award on behalf of Thermomass was company founder and executive vice
president, Robert (Bob) T. Long, Sr. Upon receiving the award, Bob commented, “Thermomass is honored that the TCA and its members recognize the innovative features of our System SC, and we are equally pleased that it has enabled site-cast contractors to produce economical yet high-performing tilt-up sandwich wall panels.”
