The Association of Equipment Management Professionals recognized the 49th Logistics Readiness Squadron Holloman Air Force Base (49 LRS) as the first Department of Defense fleet in the world to receive a Gold-level AEMP Green Fleet certification.
The 49 LRS diesel equipment fleet currently meets all governmental requirements for emissions, while the Gold certification signifies the organization as meeting the AEMP's most-rigorous Green Fleet criteria.
Across the country, consumers are demanding green products and services, and in recent years, there has been a huge push for sustainability in public organizations. The 49 LRS demonstrates its commitment to real sustainability by proactively meeting ever-changing emission regulations.
“Our Airmen have been striving to ensure our unit stays at the forefront of technology and environmental stewardship”, Gabriel Hage, chief master sergeant at the USAF 49 LRS said.
The 49 LRS provides comprehensive logistics support to include Deployment/ Distribution Management, Fuels Management, Materiel Management, and Vehicle Management functions sustaining the 49 WG and 26 associate units. The squadron executes deployment command & control of Holloman’s F-22A/MQ-1/MQ-9 fleet and 2,600+ Unit Type Codes. The team manages a $381-million supply account, a 974-vehicle fleet, 4,800 mobility bags, 2,800 weapons and $31 million in fuel transactions annually.
“The 49th Wing Commander, Col Andrew Croft, set a new benchmark for the installation: to ensure we were all staunch stewards of taxpayer assets and defenders of natural resources” CMSgt Hage added.
Being at the top of its game and achieving Gold-level Green Fleet certification isn’t enough for CMSgt Hage and the 49 LRS team, though.
“We will use this achievement as a springboard toward further environmental enhancement endeavors and as a showcase program from which others may learn and emulate.”
