“It’s an honor to be able to recognize all of these amazing companies for their impressive achievements in key areas of project planning, execution and delivery,” said 2014 ABC National Chairman Dan Brodbeck, president and CEO of Compass Partners, LLC. “From making safety a core value for their company, to displaying true diversity leadership, to maintaining a commitment to innovation and quality on each job, these winners represent the best the merit shop has to offer.”

The Excellence in Construction awards program honors all construction team members, including the contractor, owner, architect and engineer, and projects are judged on complexity, attractiveness, unique challenges overcome, completion time, workmanship, innovation, safety and cost. This year's panel of judges included representatives from the Design-Build Institute of America, Engineering News-Record, the American Institute of Architects, and the National Association of Women in Construction, and representatives from higher education, among others.

The 2013 National Safety Excellence Award winners were selected from ABC member firms that achieved Diamond, Platinum and Gold status in ABC's Safety Training and Evaluation Process (STEP) and were judged on self-evaluation scores, lost workday case rates, total recordable rates and more.

The National Diversity Excellence Awards winners were selected for diversity leadership in their workforce, supply chain and community with best-in-class recruitment policies, retention practices, and training and mentoring programs.
