The Tilt-Up Concrete Association (TCA) – a non-profit international organization that serves to expand and improve the use of tilt-up as the preferred building system – has announced the call for entries for the 24th installment of the Tilt-Up Achievement Awards.

Established in 1992, the Tilt-Up Achievement Awards program honors projects that use site-cast tilt-up concrete to introduce new building types, advance industry technology and provide unique solutions to building programs. The winning entries illustrate the variety, beauty and flexibility of the tilt-up construction method.

A panel of seasoned tilt-up professionals representing the fields of architecture, development, education, engineering, and construction evaluate each project’s aesthetic appeal, architectural ingenuity and creativity in engineering and construction.

“Because the benefits of tilt-up concrete construction are so diverse, ranging from economy to architectural potential to resiliency, the projects that are recognized through this program are equally diverse,” says Mitch Bloomquist, managing director for the TCA. “Projects are awarded for a variety of reasons. While the best looking projects often rise to the top, innovative applications, projects in new markets and those designed or constructed innovatively are often recipients of this award.”

“All projects submitted are incorporated into our ever expanding project database and become the cornerstone for the association’s marketing efforts for the year ahead,” says Ed Sauter, executive director of the TCA. He explains that the program has an extremely large reach and provides projects with global exposure including possible inclusion in major concrete industry publications.

“It’s exciting to be entering our 24th year for the awards program,” says Glen Stephens, principal at Stephens Architectural Associates and chair of the TCA Awards Committee. “It was not all that long ago that the award submittals consisted of warehouses and distribution buildings – but that is no longer the case. The spectrum of buildings using tilt-up construction continues to expand: retail centers, office buildings, educational facilities, faith based buildings, monuments, healthcare buildings and car dealerships… the list goes on.”

Industry professionals are encouraged to consider submitting projects for the annual Achievement Awards competition throughout the year. To qualify for consideration, a member of the team that maintains a current TCA membership must submit projects. All TCA members affiliated with the project will receive recognition. Awards will be presented at the 2nd Annual Tilt-Up Awards Gala, sponsored by Nox-Crete, during the 2014 TCA Convention in San Jose, Calif. this fall.

The entry deadline for this year’s program is June 2, 2014. To view the program guidelines and criteria and to submit a project, visit www.tilt-up.org/awards. Entries not communicated or received by the entry deadline will be placed into the following year's program.
