The Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) and .BUILD have announced a joint initiative to provide new .BUILD domain names focused on the construction industry.

The .BUILD namespace was recently created by ICANN, the controlling authority for the Internet, as one of several new top level domains (TLD) launching in 2014. It provides an opportunity for companies to improve their web presence and Internet marketing through offering new web addresses ending in .BUILD instead of the generic .COM.

The AGC will be working closely with .BUILD to help commercial construction companies register their new domain names at the best available prices. These targeted domains will become an integral part of any company's web presence and Search Engine Optimization (SEO) strategy in 2014 and moving forward.

"Staying relevant online is a critical component for every business," said Stephen Sandherr, chief executive officer, AGC. "This will offer our members a way to successfully compete for new business in the increasingly crowded online world."

"We're very excited to be working with AGC as we launch an expanded piece of the existing Internet infrastructure created for builders," says George Minardos, CEO and founder of .BUILD. "Our industry has been slow to acquire their online identity in the early days of the .COM-focused internet. The industry is now well positioned to adopt a more relevant namespace that actually describes what they do."

Second Industry Partnership

In a related announcement, The Blue Book Building and Construction Network announced it has also signed an agreement for a joint marketing initiative with .BUILD to provide targeted URLs exclusively for companies in the construction industry.

“We are excited to be combining this URL offering with our new ProView technology, providing a robust combination of content and positioning designed to help contractors, subcontractors and suppliers get found, qualified and hired by the companies that require their products and services,” said Rich Johnson, President of The Blue Book Building and Construction Network. “In the same vain, the combination of the .BUILD URL and ProView technology will simplify the qualification process for those companies looking to hire."

“We could  not have a better partner to help us transition the building industry into the exciting and challenging landscape of the new Internet.” says George Minardos, CEO and Founder of .BUILD.  “The Blue Book has consistently balanced its 100-year history as a trusted source for building information with its cutting edge technological innovations. This is the perfect  complement to our shared vision of maximizing the opportunity for the building industry to connect, collaborate and construct online. ”
