CINTEC America Provides Anchoring Systems for NYC MTA Subway Station Retrofit

CINTEC America announces it will supply a new anchoring system for the overhead glass fiber reinforced concrete (GFRC) panels for the NYC MTA subway station retrofit project.

CINTEC America announces that after extensive site testing and evaluation it will supply a new anchoring system for the overhead glass fiber reinforced concrete (GFRC) panels for the NYC MTA subway station retrofit project for station platforms at 168th station and 181st station.

The NYC MTA subway station retrofit project, due to be completed by the end of 2014, is aimed at providing overhead support for the GRFC panels used for the underground suspended dome ceiling. Live on site testing validated the strength and effectiveness of the anchors, which now support the over 2,000 pound ceiling panels firmly in place.

The system works by pre-drilling an oversized hole in the structure and inserting an anchor body surrounded by a fabric sock. The structural anchor is designed specifically for the loads and configuration of each application. CINTEC designs use anchors that are non-corrosive metal, typically stainless steel in various grades.

“Our anchors are the only ones being used to attach all overhead panels in these pedestrian platform areas,” says General Manager, Mike Ferrell, “safety is the key here and we are glad to assist the NYC MTA in that mission.”
