Genie telehandlers are now being manufactured at Terex Corp.’s factory in Oklahoma City, and the company says other products could be made there depending on the market.

“We have made a long-term strategic shift to our manufacturing footprint to move production closer to our North American customers,” said Matt Fearon, president of Terex Aerial Work Platforms.

“By leveraging existing Terex facilities, we are able to take advantage of a lower overall cost structure while adding capacity as we continue to grow our Genie telehandler product portfolio,” he said.

The 700,000-square-foot factory has more than 260 employees, and Terex AWP is hiring to fill new jobs, the company said.

The company’s Washington factories will now focus on developing new products, production and meeting current demand, the company said.

The company’s administrative and research and development headquarters will remain in Redmond, and the company said its facility at Moses Lake, WA, will continue to grow with Genie’s large boom machines.
