HIPOWER SYSTEMS, a manufacturer of power generation and power distribution equipment in the U.S. and Canada, announced it has signed RDO Equipment Co. to be a HIPOWER SYSTEMS distributor in North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota and eastern Montana. Already the world’s largest John Deere distributor in several equipment categories, RDO Equipment Co. will now represent all of HIPOWER SYSTEMS’ product lines, from rental generators to power distribution products. In addition to selling HIPOWER SYSTEMS equipment and accessories, RDO Equipment Co. will open a rental division to service its Oil & Gas industry customers in the Bakken oilfields.

HIPOWER SYSTEMS’ product offerings are a good fit for us, whether we are providing diesel or natural gas generators to our contractor customers or standby generators in the communities we serve,” said Justin Schulz, RDO Equipment Co. product manager for HIPOWER SYSTEMS. “Equally important for our decision, we believe in building relationships and offering total solutions for customers―we build customers for life. In their approach to customer service and with their equipment, HIPOWER SYSTEMS is equally committed to building and maintaining satisfaction and strong relationships with their customer base.”

Another criteria for signing with HIPOWER SYSTEMS, Schultz noted, was that the firm already carries a large selection of generators powered by John Deere engines, which correlates with RDO Equipment Co.’s sales leadership with that manufacturer.  HIPOWER SYSTEMS Independent Sales Consultant Doug Evans first approached RDO Equipment Co. about the distributorship in fall 2014, after which time, Schulz related, his company formed an advisory panel to evaluate the firm. To assist in their evaluation, RDO Equipment Co. Executive Vice President Chris Cooper, Vice President of Midwest Construction Lon Kindseth, General Manager of the Minot, North Dakota location John Markle, and Schulz all toured the HIPOWER SYSTEMS operation in Lenexa, Kansas and met with the staff.

Now that the partnership deal is complete, RDO Equipment Co. will be sending six of its technicians to the HIPOWER SYSTEMS facility to complete a comprehensive, three-week training curriculum. The program imparts knowledge on everything from basic generator engine and controller operation to troubleshooting and system maintenance of HIPOWER SYSTEMS equipment, specifically. “It is very refreshing for us to start a relationship where the first steps we take are to train the distributor’s service and support personnel,” said HIPOWER SYSTEMS President Rafael Acosta.

“We are also impressed with RDO Equipment Co.’s commitment to uptime and superior service, which is important not only for the oil & gas industry but for all of our markets,” Acosta continued. “Our joint dedication to quality, integrity and customer support will be the key to success in this new partnership between our two companies.”
