Classic Turf Company was given the Award of Excellence in the ‘Slab-On-Ground’ category for the 2015 Post-Tensioning Institute Project Awards. This prestigious award is given every two years to a project that demonstrates excellence in post-tensioning applications.
“It gives me great pleasure to announce that Classic Turf Company’s entry, the Sky View Parc Tennis Facility, has been chosen as the recipient for the Award of Excellence in the ‘Slab-On-Ground’ category for the 2015 Post-Tensioning Institute Project Awards. This award is given every two years to a project that demonstrates excellence in post-tensioning applications. The Award of Excellence is an honor that serves to recognize the best in our industry.” says Theodore L. Neff the Executive Director of the Post-Tensioning Institute. In choosing the recipient, several things are considered, including: creativity, innovation, ingenuity, cost-effectiveness, functionality, constructability, and aesthetics.
The Skyview Parc Project, a 3.5 acre rooftop project located in Flushing, New York across the river from the US Tennis Center. The court portion of the project consisted of a highly customized structural post tension concrete tennis and multi-purpose courts situated on top of a prefabricated garage structure. Specialized fence anchorage and light pole footings were integral to the court structure. The 10mm Classic Turf Cushioned Sports Surface was installed on the concrete slab for the finished playing surface.

The courts at Skyview Parc were successfully opened in 2012 and were celebrated with play from tennis professional Michael Chang.
