What's old is new again. Dozers are one of the longest standing and most common pieces of equipment found on construction sites. And currently, they're a hot-ticket item, with 2006 sales predicted to squeak past last year's high water mark of more than 17,000 units.
If you're one of those in the market for a new machine, the specifications listed in the following pages can help you identify one that fits your application. We've also asked manufacturers to highlight recent advancements that can help you increase productivity and profitability on the job.
Caterpillar
Caterpillar offers several different base models of crawler tractors that enable you to match the machine to the job. Several of the medium-sized tractors feature the Caterpillar SystemOne Undercarriage, which offers extended life and lower operating costs. Four of the larger tractors now feature Cat engines with ACERT technology for compliance with emissions regulations, while creating responsive power and maintaining reliable, durable performance.
