JLG Industries, Inc. plans to reopen its 340,000-sq.-ft. facility in Orrville, OH, which was closed in 2003 during the last business downturn. Telehandler product engineering and certain component manufacturing operations currently located in the recently sold New Philadelphia, OH, facility will be relocated to the Orrville facility. North American service parts distribution operations currently in McConnellsburg, PA, will also be moved to Orville, creating additional manufacturing space to accommodate the alliance with Caterpillar Inc., as well as increases for other JLG products.

STIHL Inc. announces it will be expanding operations in Virginia Beach, VA, with a capital investment of over $78.4 million. Slated for completion in 2007, the initial two-phased expansion will create in excess of 150 jobs, which is part of an overall plan to add up to 300 new positions in the next year.

In phase one, a new 60,000-sq.-ft. facility will house manufacturing operations for guide bars used on chain saws, the first time guide bars will be manufactured in the United States for the company. In phase two, an investment of more than $58.4 million will expand one warehouse by 88,000 sq. ft. and convert other existing warehouse space into manufacturing for additional crankshaft and machining operations.

Cherrington Beachcleaners announces the appointment of Mike McPherson as president of the newly formed Cherrington Enterprises. Cherrington was previously owned by Glenmac Inc./Harley Rakes, which was sold to Paladin. The company continues to work with Paladin on a cooperative marketing plan for its mobile screeners and Beachcleaners.

Roadtec has broken ground on a 56,000-sq.-ft. facility expansion at its Chattanooga, TN, site. The expansion is intended to meet increased product demand and streamline production according to its lean manufacturing model. The company expects to complete construction and installation of new manufacturing equipment by mid-summer 2006.
