World of Concrete 2007, held this past January, proved to be the largest in its 33-year history. The show featured more than 900,000 net sq. ft. of exhibits, 1,739 exhibitors and 91,628 professional registrants. Following is a look at some of the newest equipment models on display.
Trimble Spectra Precision Laser Grade Lasers
The Spectra Precision Laser GL412 single-grade laser and GL422 dual-grade laser offer fast, easy horizontal level, grade and vertical plumb setup with no manual leveling. The units send a continuous self-leveled 360° laser reference over an entire work area, and feature a wide grade range of -10% to +15%, enabling use for a range of slope applications. Both feature a two-way, full-function remote control with built-in backlit grade display. Their rugged design can withstand a 3-ft. drop directly onto concrete.
Multiquip MTX-Series Rammers
The anti-vibration system on the MTX-Series gasoline-powered rammers significantly cuts vibration to the user. The 165-lb. MTX-70 is powered by a 3-hp Honda GX100 engine and delivers 2,900 lbs. of impact force at 645 to 695 bpm. The 183-lb. MTX-80 has a 3.5-hp Robin EH-12-2D engine and generates 3,100 lbs. of centrifugal force. The 196-lb. MTX-90 is also powered by a Robin EH-12-2D and generates 3,500 lbs. of force at 660 to 700 bpm. All three models feature recoil start, travel speeds up to 36 fpm and diaphragm carburetors.
Atlas Copco MB 1700 Hydraulic Breaker
The MB 1700 hydraulic breaker incorporates Krupp technology, and provides an impact frequency of up to 600 bpm. At a service weight of 3,750 lbs., the breaker is suited for excavators in the 18- to 34-metric-ton weight class. Maximum hydraulic input flow is 42 gpm at a maximum operating pressure of 2,610 psi. The AutoControl monitoring system adapts frequency and power output to match operating conditions. The StartSelect system allows startup and shutoff to be adjusted to fit jobsite conditions.
Husqvarna K960 Saw
The K960 incorporates DualCharge engine technology for more power, low emissions and optimum fuel economy. The 6.1-hp unit is able to cut to 6 in. deep with a 16-in. blade. Active Air Filtration increases filter life by three to five times. The SmartCarb feature ensures high power retention. The EasyStart feature provides 50% easier starts, while the DuraStarter reduces wear on the starter. The saw's design includes a larger front handle, modular construction with vibration damping system, easy to adjust blade guard and reversible cutting arm.
