Bore Pilot CD Offers HDD Tutorial
Vermeer Mfg. Co. introduces Bore Pilot, a horizontal directional drilling (HDD) tutorial on CD that provides civil engineers, contractors and operators with information that is essential before, during and after the boring process.

The tutorial's introduction to HDD and the boring process includes a detailed project process map to assist in planning bores. It also discusses safety considerations, and the types of pipes used in HDD and their specific applications.

The pulling load calculator can be used to calculate the required pulling load for a specific HDD project based on the type of pipe used, pipe diameter and total bore length. A soil classification guide helps contractors determine the project site's soil type and matches the appropriate drill bit and backreamer. In addition, a fluid-mixing process map shows how much mud should be used based on soil conditions, drill unit and tooling used.
