Coatings Inc.'s approach to business is stated right at the top of the cover on their new four-page color brochure: "Working Around Your Schedule."
And President Richard Miller says that's been the Arvada, CO, company's approach since he started the company out of his home with a leased sealcoating tanker more than 30 years ago.
"That's always been our motto and that's what we do," Miller says. "Our clients need to run their own business or they have a community to run and they can't have us getting in their way. So we'll accommodate them any way we can."
At the start Miller and Ron Younger, past vice president, did all the work. "We would sell the work, install it, then sell more, and install some more," Miller says. "That's literally how we built it up."
Today Coatings Inc.'s work is divided almost evenly among sealcoating, hot pour crack repair, infrared repair, and tennis court work. Miller says the bulk of the work is on commercial pavements, though municipal cracksealing has grown steadily over the past few years.
