October brought two things those in the sweeping industry love - falling leaves (more to sweep) and the 2006 Schwarze Round-Up. This year's Round-Up event was held from October 6 - 8 in Huntsville, Alabama. Over 400 attendees were able to experience demos, dealer presentations, and great food. Friday started with a kick-off event held at the US Space and Rocket Center where attendees were able to visit dealer booths, enjoy good food and take a tour of the museum. Even a major power outage at the museum lasting several hours didn't dampen the enjoyment and enthusiasm of attendees.

Highlights of this year's event included vendor and Schwarze presentations and a preview of their latest sweeper. The Schwarze S233SE, a single-engine low-profile sweeper made especially for parking garages, will make its official debut in January 2007 but attendees got a sneak preview. Vendor presentations presented by Isuzu, Freightliner, International, and Sterling where each company shared information on how they are meeting EPA Admission Requirements. Topping it all off was a presentation given by Schwarze Warranty Manager called the Care and Feeding of Sweepers focusing on how sweeper owners can keep their machines in top operating condition while saving money.

Wrapping up this 3-day event, was a Rodeo BBQ where attendees could kick back, enjoy more good food, network, ask questions, and experience what proved to be a perfect crisp fall day. Any attendee would readily agree that the 3-days of this event was well worth making the trip to Huntsville. Although not currently an annual event, the next Round-Up is slated to be held in 2008.
