Walgreens to add, relocate accessible parking spaces
Walgreens will improve the accessibility of its Illinois stores by bringing parking lots into compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act following settlement of a lawsuit earlier this summer.
Under the settlement Walgreens will increase the number of handicap-accessible parking spaces, relocate accessible spaces closer to store doors, improve slopes on ramps, improve curbs, and remove obstructions from ramps and store entrances.
In addition to improving the accessibility, Walgreens will hire independent monitors to make sure all stores comply with the ADA. The chain will also pay a $350,000 fine.
