UpRight to open U.S. manufacturing facility
UpRight Powered Access is to open a manufacturing facility in the United States and could be producing booms and large scissors as early as the second quarter of 2007, according to reports published by Access International.
Darren Kell, UpRight's chief executive officer, told Access International that the company was considering two sites — one existing plant which is well set up for AWP production, and a "greenfield" site, which would be built from scratch. A decision on the site was expected by the beginning of January and will require an investment of around $5 million.
Kell said UpRight's existing Fresno facility would continue to run the parts and customer services, but that in the longer term, assembly of the TM12s, vertical mast platforms and small scissors would probably shift to the new manufacturing site.
