Caterpillar's D7E dozer is the construction industry's first diesel-electric dozer, and Cat says it will move 25% more material per gallon of fuel, improve productivity 10% and reduce lifetime operating costs 10% compared to the D7R Series II. A 235-hp Cat C9 engine drives a generator that produces electricity to power two AC electric drive motors, which are connected to a differential steering system.

  • A continuously variable electric motor drives each track
  • 60% fewer moving parts in the drivetrain
  • Center-post cab provides more all-around visibility and wider sight lines to the blade
  • Single larger blade lift cylinder provides the same power and stability with less than half the parts
