The 205-hp, 235-hp and 310-hp engines in Caterpillar's D6T, D7E and D8T dozers meet Tier 4 Interim emissions standards using the Cat NOx Reduction System and Cat Clean Emissions Module (CEM). Under most operating conditions, engine exhaust is hot enough to oxidize soot from the exhaust filters, a process called passive regeneration. But if supplemental regeneration is needed, the Cat Regeneration System (CRS) elevates exhaust temperatures to oxidize soot within the diesel particulate filter. The CRS is designed to work automatically without any interaction needed from the operator.
