Washers

A washer strengthens the holding power of the other two surfaces it sits between.

  • Hardware forged or fabricated that is most often circular-shaped with a hole in the center
  • Come in other shapes and sizes
  • Also called "spacers" since they create a space between two surfaces
  • Typically used between a screw and a piece of material, or between a nut and a bolt
  • Helps to reduce friction as a screw is tightened
