Komatsu's HM400-3 articulated dump truck is powered by a 469-hp Komatsu SAA6D140E-6 engine that is certified to meet EPA Tier 4 Interim and EU Stage 3B emissions limits but also increases power while decreasing fuel consumption. 

Speed sensors on four wheels detect tire slippage, activating the new Komatsu Traction Control System (K-TCS) to automatically lock the inter-axle differentials. If slippage persists, four independent brakes can be applied to slipping wheels to regain traction.

With the Komatsu CARE Program, every Komatsu Tier 4 Interim construction machine comes standard with complimentary factory scheduled maintenance for 2,000 hours or the first three years (whichever occurs first), and includes two complimentary Komatsu Diesel Particulate Filter (KDPF) exchanges within the first five years.
