The 362-net-hp CX470C full-sized excavator replaces the CX470B with emissions and control technologies that simultaneously deliver improved performance and fuel economy. Like other Case C Series excavators, the CX470C achieves Tier 4 Interim certification via cooled exhaust gas recirculation. Computer controllers on the hydraulic system and engine communicate to deliver features such as:
- Boom Economy Control, which automatically reduces engine RPMs and hydraulic power to the boom when speed and power is not a priority, such as when swinging back to the hole
- Swing Relief Control manages hydraulic power allotted when initiating swing
- Spool Stroke Control creates an automatic pressure adjustment to meet demand during digging without building unnecessary pressure
- Auto Economy Control reduces RPMs when the joysticks are inactive.
Engine improvements such as computer-controlled fuel injection and variable geometry turbocharging contribute along with automatic matching of engine speed to hydraulic-system demands to performance and fuel economy.
The CX470C's cycle times are up to 5% faster and the machine's lift capacity is 6% greater than the B Series model. With its standard arm length of 11 ft. 1 in., it has a maximum dig depth of 25 ft. 4 in. and dump height of 25 ft. 5 in. Standard arm digging force is 42,490 lbf. and standard bucket digging force is 55,530 lbf. Available Power Boost technology increases both values by approximately 10%.
Long Undercarriage (LC), Retractable Undercarriage (RTC) and Mass Excavator (MEX) models range in operating weights from 105,300 to 108,600 lbs.
