Western Star is taking orders for its first light Class 8 (a size range sometimes called "Baby 8") tractor with the addition of that configuration to its 4700 truck line introduced to vocational segments early in 2011. Several new options for the 4700 product line include:
- Several new lift-axle choices from Hendrickson and Watson Chalin
- New roof fairings and side extenders
- Chalmers rubber spring suspension
