John Deere says improving uptime was the No. 1 initiative in its design of the 655K crawler loader, but that productivity-enhancing features were a close second. Replacing the Liebherr-sourced 655C with a Deere-built machine brought Deere’s Quad-Cool system, which isolates the coolers from engine heat and eliminates stacked elements for more reliable cooling. The PowerTech 6.8-liter diesel, rated 145 hp at 1,800 rpm, is a 14% increase in power compared to the 655C's 130-hp Liebherr engine rated at 2,000 rpm.

  • Hydrostatic transmission allows operators to pick V-pattern or joystick transmission controls
  • Total Machine Control allows customized machine response tailored to operator preferences
  • Onboard computer constantly monitors transmission temperature and warns operator when out of spec
  • Standard hydraulic-driven variable-speed suction fan runs only as needed
  • Operating weight: 40,600 lbs. (6,500 lbs. heavier than 655C)
  • Standard JDLink Ultimate telematics continuously collect and transmit machine operating data
  • Optional 4-in-1 bucket has lifetime-lubricated bucket pivot pins
  • Viscous cab mounting, double-laminated rear window glass and interior sound-dampening reduce noise levels
  • Standard air-suspension seat
  • Sealed switch module allows keyless start and security touchpad requires a numeric pass code to prevent unauthorized operation
