The new duty cycle 300-metric-ton-class HS 8300 HD crawler crane includes what Liebherr calls a Pactronic hybrid drive. The system stores excess energy by charging hydraulic accumulators and regenerates it during high-demand effort to expand the machine's capability and reduce fuel consumption. The system allows the 972-hp diesel engine to achieve hoisting power of 1,073 hp and system power comparable to a conventional 1,676-hp drive system.
