Mercedes-Benz to Bring Sprinter 4x4 to US

Mercedes-Benz recently confirmed that the Sprinter 4x4, a four-wheel-drive version of its van (European model pictured above), will be sold in the U.S. The first models should appear in dealerships in the first quarter of 2015. Assuming no other competitors surface between now and then, the Sprinter 4x4 will be the only four-wheel-drive work van available in the U.S.

  • Drive power is split 35:65 between the front and rear axles in all-wheel-drive mode
  • 4ETS electronic traction control
  • Optional "Low Range" reduction gear shortens all gear ratios by 42 percent
  • 3.0-L Bluetec V6: 188 hp, 325 lb.-ft. torque
  • Body lifted 4.3 in. in the front and 3.1 in. in the rear
  • 24-in fording depth
  • 144- or 170-in. wheelbases
  • Body styles: Passenger Van, Crew Van (2 passenger rows and cargo) and Cargo Van
  • Cargo van: 8,550-lb. or 11,030-lb. GVWR
