The Bosch Power Ready Wireless Charging System is the world's first inductive charging system for cordless power tools. When the charger is plugged in and a compatible 18V battery is placed on top of it, the charger begins wirelessly transmitting an alternating magnetic field. An internal copper coil in the battery acts as a receiver, and the alternating magnetic field induces voltage in the battery, charging the cells until full. Between tasks, you can set the entire drill/driver, battery and all, right on the charger pad to top off the charge – the charger can charge batteries with the battery on the tool or off. Battery and charger communicate during charging to ensure proper charge.
Components of the Bosch Power Ready Wireless Charging System include:
- The WCBAT612 SlimPack 18V 2.0 Ah battery has a charge-level indicator and is equipped with Bosch CoolPack technology, which improves heat dissipation and extends battery life twice as long over packs without it. Bosch says cells deliver 65% more runtime versus 1.5 Ah packs. The battery is compatible with all Bosch 18V power tools and chargers. Expect the WCBAT620 4.0 Ah 18V Fat Pack to come in spring 2015
- The WC18C Wireless Charger will charge the WCBAT612 80% in approximately 30 minutes and 100% in 50 minutes (from empty)
- All Bosch Power Ready Wireless Charging System kits include the WC18F frame designed to mount the charger on workbenches, walls or other work surfaces. It serves as a flexible and secure holder for the battery or tool and battery (on horizontal surface).
- The Bosch WC18H Mobile Holster can be mounted to any shelf or wall to hold and charge a battery still docked in a tool vertically or horizontally on a workbench or in a truck or van. Because the tool is always charging when stored, pros are power ready for the entire work day. An enclosed top with three custom inserts secures tool and battery to charger.
