Arkansas Governor Mike Beebe will announce next week his intention to ask
voters in November to renew a $575 million bond program for highway improvements.
Arkansas voters first approved issue of $575 million worth of GARVEE, or Grant Anticipation Revenue Vehicle, bonds in 1999 to fund a five-year, $1 billion interstate highway rehabilitation. In a December 2005 special election, however, voters rejected reauthorization of the bond program.
