NRMCA Hires Pavement Expert to Promote Ready Mix Use On Streets, Roads, Parking Areas

Brian M. Killingsworth hired as senior director, pavement structures

SILVER SPRING, MD -- The National Ready Mixed Concrete Association announces the hiring of Brian M. Killingsworth, PE, as senior director, pavement structures. Killingsworth, who will be based in San Antonio, Texas, has been in the consulting business for 19 years and has a broad background in pavement design, materials selection, construction and maintenance. In his new role at NRMCA, he will provide technical expertise and education to the ready mixed concrete industry and its customers to advance the applications and use of ready mixed concrete for streets, local roads and parking areas, including conventional concrete, concrete overlays and pervious concrete.

Killingsworth will represent NRMCA before AASHTO, FHWA, ASCE, ACI and other organizations that develop codes and standards for pavements. He will also monitor and provide input to sustainability standards for roads and infrastructure, including Greenroads, GreenLITES and FHWA Sustainable Highways Self-Evaluation tool. Over the first 12 years of his career, Killingsworth was actively involved in several research projects with the National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP), the FHWA and state Departments of Transportation. He then spent two years co-managing the QA materials testing laboratory for a $1 billion toll road project in Central Texas, overseeing lab testing of all construction materials placed on the project. For the last five years, Killingsworth has lead a San Antonio-based consulting firm's Pavement Services Group that provides horizontal design and construction-related services to both public and private entities.

Kilingsworth is a professional engineer and holds both bachelor's and master's degrees in civil engineering from Texas A&M University.
