Global aerial lift manufacturer Snorkel has appointed Steve Watts as vice-president, distribution.

Steve has more than 25 years experience in the construction equipment industry. He recently spent five years with mini-excavator manufacturer Takeuchi and was responsible for establishing its dealer network across North America. Steve joins Snorkel from Lampson Tractor & Equipment. The appointment is something of a homecoming – Steve previously worked for Snorkel and Omniquip from 1997-2001, as regional manager for the South-East.

David Smith, president of Snorkel North America, said: "We are really pleased to welcome Steve back to Snorkel. Steve knows this industry inside out and he has a fantastic track record of developing new product distribution channels."

Based in California, Steve will develop new distribution channels and markets in the USA, working alongside George Fitchett, Snorkel's VP of strategic accounts.

Steve Watts said: "I am delighted to be back on the Snorkel team and re-joining some of my former colleagues, at a really exciting time for the company.

"The Snorkel product range has more strength and depth than ever before, with a really strong range of industrial machines to complement the booms and scissors. The simplicity, durability and low total ownership costs of Snorkel lifts deliver excellent ROI - and I look forward to sharing these benefits with a new generation of Snorkel customers."

Founded in 1958, Snorkel produces a wide range of aerial work platforms at its factory in Elwood, Kansas, including slab scissors, push-around lifts, rough terrain scissors, towable lifts and its world-famous booms. Elwood is also Snorkel’s North American headquarters and the company’s global production facility for big booms.
