American Concrete Institute Announces Mlutkowski as Director of Sustainability

Kevin P. Mlutkowski is the new director of sustainability with ACI.

FARMINGTON HILLS, MI -- The American Concrete Institute (ACI) announces Kevin P. Mlutkowski, LEED AP, as its Director of Sustainability.

In this newly created position, Mlutkowski will work with ACI volunteers, committee members, representatives from other organizations inside and outside the concrete industry and fellow staff to increase sustainability content in the Institute's programs, events, documents, products and student activities. Additionally, Mlutkowski will coordinate ACI's sustainability activities at events and industry collaborations.

"With the promotion of Kevin Mlutkowski, the Institute reaffirms our commitment to sustainable development and aims to accelerate integration of technically backed sustainable concepts and best practices into ACI's industry-leading resources and, ultimately, into the everyday practice of designers, specifiers and constructors."

Mlutkowski joined the American Concrete Institute in November 2003 as Market Promotion and Research Analyst and was promoted to Manager, Marketing in June 2007. Since then, Mlutkowski has been instrumental in publishing "The Sustainable Concrete Guide-Strategies and Examples" and "The Sustainable Concrete Guide-Applications," organizing the annual ACI Concrete Sustainability Forum, and representing ACI at Greenbuild and other sustainability related exhibitions. Mlutkowski will serve as ACI's staff representative to the Concrete Joint Sustainability Initiative.

Mlutkowski received his B.S. Technical Communication with Chemistry minor from Lawrence Tech University and M.B.A. from Oakland University. A Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professional (LEED AP), Mlutkowski serves on the Board of Directors for the U.S. Green Building Council Detroit Regional Chapter and as a member of the Environmental Advisory Committee in Berkley, Mich.
