Dynapac Introduces New Paver Line for North American Market

Dynapac's new F1000T tracked and F1000W wheeled 10-foot-wide asphalt pavers have been designed from the road up with the contractor in mind. Introduced to dealers at Dynapac’s Garland, TX, facility, the F1000T and F1000W - the first two models in the product line - will make their official debut at World of Asphalt in February 2010.

Designed especially for the North American market with input from dealers and contractors, the F1000 series pavers can handle extreme conditions in remote locations, yet are easy to operate and service. Rugged and reliable, the F1000 series features heavy welded frame construction, dual swing-out operator stations and the lowest deck height in the industry. The result is superior visibility for the operator, who now has a clear view of the hopper and auger - and a full view of work area.

The three-quarter-inch formed hopper wings deliver asphalt to a high-capacity slat conveyor with a wide material tunnel and extra heavy chains and slats. Unique to the Dynapac paver line is the high-performance outboard auger drive and the conveyor design, which eliminates the auger chain drive box and means no center line segregation. The conveyor system delivers 600 tons per hour of asphalt to either a Carlson EZ III or EZ IV screed to lay mats up to 12 inches deep on new placements, and thin overlays on rehabilitation projects.

To complement the rugged design of the pavers, a redundant drive computer system and reliable relay logic controls have been incorporated into the machine to withstand harsh environments and the demands of the job site. The multi-function display makes it easy to calibrate the system.

Powered by a Cummins QSB-220 Tier III diesel engine operating at 230 hp and 1800 rpm, the F1000 series also features an integrated Sauer drive system. The availability of these parts throughout the country means quick turn-around for maintenance and repair for maximum uptime on the site. A 36 kW, 60 Hz generator provides full output at low idle for better fuel economy.

The F1000 series is easy to operate with features and functions that have been designed with operator comfort and safety in mind. The simple controls and multi-function display are operator friendly and grouped for convenience. The precision front-wheel assist steering on the F1000W is tight and responsive, and the steering on the F1000T can be controlled by a knob for precise paving speed control. A return-to-center feature is an advantage on both models, as well as a single lever for forward/reverse control. Fumes exhaust through the engine stack, reducing the crew's exposure to asphalt fumes.

Uptime is critical on any paving job so the F1000 series is easy to troubleshoot and service. No daily lubrication is required on the tractor, and two fuel tanks are at ground level for quick refueling. A single panel at the side gives full access to filters, and flip-open doors and a removable top cover give full access to the engine and hydraulic lines. There is a pressurized hydraulic filtration system with one-piece hydraulic valve manifolds offering simple maintenance. And for overall maintenance, the radiator and oil cooler have been designed to withstand pressure washing.

Electronics in harsh environments can be an issue in some cases, but not with the F1000 series pavers. The sealed wiring harness in the sealed fuse box is designed for easy service in a clean enclosure. The logic relays feature an LED power indicator, latching indicator and mechanical override for fast trouble shooting and quick replacement. The Sauer cartridge valves have a manual override, and the drive system is easily disengaged with a simple manual conveyor tension to move the paver in the event of a major failure.

"We call it 'Uptime from Design,'" said Bruce Truesdale, President, Dynapac USA. "Everything on this paver has been designed to help contractors improve productivity, reliability, operator comfort and safety and reduce total cost of ownership."
